The Red Oak

Red Oaks are very popular trees in the Lubbock area.  Color can vary from yellowish-red to deep maroon depending upon the acorn that the tree grew from.
The most common Red Oak planted in Lubbock is the Texas Red Oak

Bradford Pear

One of the first trees to bloom in the spring and a popular ornamental tree in Lubbock.  It is often planted in areas where a very narrow growth habit is desired, but it can spread 20 ft to 30 ft.  It also has a reddish fall color.

Although this tree has desirable traits, it is becoming overplanted, and many trees are showing signs of chlorosis and fire blight.
