Due to the drought conditions and temperature concerns on the South Plains, the Arboretum recommends taking into consideration the following when choosing your tree donation:

• Hardy to Zone 7.
• Water requirements. The Arboretum strives to set an example of wise water consumption for the City of Lubbock; trees that require high water consumption may not do well in the area.
• Light requirements and location. ​​
